DOCS: convert 3rd party http links to https
Discovered with:
find . -type f \( -name '*.md' -o -name '*.rst' \) -exec grep -n 'http://' {} +
All real, i.e. non-example, links found were moved to https. There are
some dead links and websites with no https available which were not
converted.
